The 91̽ Penticton campus was delighted to host Madeline Terbasket’s show “Medicine Walk” on April 3, 2024, in the Lecture Theatre.

Madeline is a local 2Spirit syilx, Ho-chunk and Anishinaabe artist who puts a modern twist on traditional syilx captikʷł and storytelling.

"Madeline’s show instantly took us captive by sharing their personal experiences through song, dance and comedy," said Sam Smith, Indigenous Student Services Coordinator, Penticton campus. "Madeline expertly weaved stories to offer their unique perspective with the group, while highlighting their intersectional identity as a queer Indigenous artist."

Madeline’s show speaks to and disrupts current challenges for queer and Indigenous folks with a touching vulnerability. The ending of Madeline’s show saw a standing ovation from all in the audience. Everyone was treated to a reception following the show in the Indigenous Centre for snacks and a chance to meet and talk with Madeline.
